Employer Perspective: 'Who, me? Work for an insurance company?'

Well, we have to admit, many of our managers and executives started out thinking the same thing. When we were in college, going to the Career Center looking for job ideas, most of the time we quickly dismissed insurance companies-- and yet many of us now work in the insurance industry.  Insurance isn't just selling, though there are financially rewarding careers as insurance agents.

There are also many other kinds of jobs in insurance that are very challenging. For example, in claims - deciding how much to pay on a claim. What was that car really worth at the moment of the accident? How much damage was done by that wind storm to the house and what will it cost to repair it today? Or a career in underwriting - should the insurance company provide insurance to that customer - even though what they do is dangerous? And if we insure that customer, how much should we charge?   Or if you are very good at math - consider the actuary field and help us understand and predict the trend lines. Our economy does not exist without insurance-- you cannot buy a car, a house, or run a business without insurance.  And we need great people to provide this essential service!

We are looking for college graduates who want to use their college education in a challenging and rewarding career.  And we look for a broad range of degrees including business, liberal arts, math, psychology, sociology, computer technology, and others. Bachelor's and Master's degrees are both encouraged. We even have a great education reimbursement program if you continue your education after starting work.

LibertyMutual-2color Liberty Mutual Group - a leading global multi-line group of insurance companies, will be on campus during the Fall Career Fair and Interview Day, November 13 and 14.
