It’s Career Fair time again. The Career Center is hosting it’s annual Spring Career Fair this Wednesday, April 15, from noon to 5pm in the EMU Ballroom. Over fifty employers will be attending, and they’re all interested in hiring students from the University of Oregon. Companies and organizations from the fields of Retail, Finance and Banking, Health Care and Government will be represented including: The Department of State, the City of Eugene, Columbia Sportswear, Oregonlive.com, First Investors and Eli Lilly.
So we’ve piqued your interest, now what do you do to prepare over the next couple days?
- Start with researching the companies you’re interested in. You can find a complete list of companies planning to attend the fair in the “Events” section of our website. You’ll find a brief description of each employer there, but we encourage you to visit the company’s own website too.
- Next, a resume. UO students have access to a free online resume builder in the “Resume and Cover Letter” section of our site. You can also stop by the Career Center’s office (220 Hendricks Hall) for a drop-in appointment with a Career Counselor for in-person resume help. Our drop-in hours are 11-4 Monday thru Friday. Sign-up sheets are available each morning for that day and appointments are taken on a first-come first-served basis. Give as a call at 346-3235 to check for today’s openings.
- Dress for Career Fairs is Business Casual. Make sure your clothes are clean, pressed and professional.
- Take a deep breath. The companies attending the Fair are here because they want to hire our students. There will be Career Center staff in attendance to offer guidance and advice as you navigate the Fair. It’s an intimidating situation, but these are the important first steps to finding a job.
We’ll see you on Wednesday! Give us a call (346-3235) or email us (career@uoregon.edu) if you have questions.
