The University of Oregon Student Affairs Division recently created a marketing campaign to put a face on its 600-person staff. Departments, including the Career Center, were encouraged to nominate individuals who do something interesting in their non-work hours. Nine people were featured including a bread maker, marathon runner and dancer. Linda Favero, WaterAfrica Board Member and Assistant Director, Alumni Career Services at the Career Center, was recognized for her commitment to raise awareness and funds to provide clean water and sanitation for the people of Zambia.

Linda Favero is a founding board member of WaterAfrica and chair of its Raising Awareness (marketing + communication) Committee and its signature event, Walk4Water. WaterAfrica is a Portland-area 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation working with World Vision to increase awareness of the need for safe water and sanitation in developing countries and to raise money to provide safe water for villagers in rural Zambia. She first developed her passion for Africa in 2002 when her husband traveled with World Vision to Zambia and her family began sponsoring three children. After completing graduate school and learning more about the world's water crisis, she combined her concern for water issues with her passion for Africa and traveled to Zambia in 2008 with a team of water experts for the launch of the ZWASH project (Zambia Water Sanitation Hygiene). Linda was transformed during this trip after meeting the villagers who were blessed by her family's sponsored well and connecting with the remarkable World Vision staff.
