Reading and Math tutors work in exciting elementary after school programs. Must be available after school hours for 1 to 4 days a week. Tutors will work with individuals or small groups of students in reading and/or math under the supervision of a certified teacher. Tutors will receive training at the school. Tutors will work with students in grades 1 through 5 at the following schools: Chavez Elementary, River Road Elementary, Howard Elementary, Spring Creek Elementary. Tutors will work with students in grades 6 through 8 at the following schools: Kelly Middle and Madison Middle Schools.
We will help students set up car pools with other students going to the same school. Also, get a schedule of the Lane Transit District bus system (available on campus in the information desk in the EMU.)
Applicants must have Federal Work-Study awards.
Tutors must have the ability to lead small group and individual tutoring activities. Tutors need to be positive and encouraging and have the desire to make a difference in a child's life. Strong reading, writing and math skills preferred as well as some prior experience with elementary or middle school aged children. Work Study students, with experience working with diverse populations, and/or who speak a second language, are also encouraged to apply.
