This is an executive assistant position to the Lane County Administrator who is the chief executive for a very diverse and complex full service government.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starting individual who works well independently and as part of a team. This individual will be articulate, competent, highly adaptable to change, have the ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively, have good judgment, and be tactful, personable and professional.
This position calls for a professional presence, technical excellence, and the ability to handle confidential matters with appropriate discretion. The appointee also performs a full range of confidential, senior level office management duties to support the Administrator; exercises considerable independent judgment in providing information and referring to appropriate parties; investigates, analyzes and interprets data related to the county, including such areas as policies, functions, organizational structures, forms and procedures and work output.
The appointee may coordinate administrative special projects.
Incumbents in this class are responsible for providing specialized, complex and confidential administrative support, requiring advanced clerical skills, to a department or program. Incumbent responsibilities may include: confidential data entry and record keeping (such as payroll); document processing; preparing monthly and annual reports; customer service; and assisting with departmental goal setting. Incumbents may also be responsible for assisting in the review and finalizing of department budget reports and participating in leadership meetings. Incumbents are not considered formal supervisors, but may assign and monitor the work of lower level staff.

High School Diploma, or G.E.D., supplemented by specialized training and four years of progressively responsible clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
