Longtime photographer and photography/darkroom teacher seeking intern to help digitize, catalog, organize, and caption large archive (3500 rolls) of 35 mm film. The goal is to make archive accessible and useful to several university housed collections, publishers, and galleries who have expressed interest, for historical, educational, and commercial use.
Hours are flexible. Archive and workspace are currently housed in my home near 60th and Glisan, Portland, convenient to both max and bus lines.
Project duration is likely 2 years +, but shorter-term commitment can be negotiated. This is an unpaid internship, but I will work with both you and your academic advisor(s) to ensure a valid learning experience with job description, supervision, evaluation, and course credit.
Familiarity with Adobe PhotoShop, flatbed scanning procedures, data management, internet navigation, and social media.
Ability to do independent research into and evaluation of cataloging and presentation methods and options. Time management and project planning skills.
Some knowledge of or interest in historical evolution of photographic processes and presentation. Advanced communication and writing aptitude.
