West African Cultural Arts Institute (WACAI) is seeking an Intern to fill their Internship position. The Internship is typically a 90-150 hour position (3-5 credits) taken over the course of an academic term and can be for-credit or not-for-credit. Check with your department advisers for information about how internship hours translate into academic credits. Upon being offered the internship it is the student’s responsibility to complete the form and seek appropriate approval from their respective department.
This is a non-paid position that will give the Intern real life, professional experience through working directly with a non-profit cultural arts organization under the direction of the Co-founder and Executive Director, Andrea DiPalma Yansane.
WACAI is a Eugene based 501(c)(3) non-profit cultural arts organization whose mission is to share the joy and passion of West African culture through vibrant educational programs focusing on music and dance, advocating for authentic source artists from Guinea, and creating charitable projects in Guinea that promote artistic, emotional, and physical health.
WACAI has a variety of arts educational programming in the US which includes Community Classes, Assembly, Residency, and After School Programs for kids, Community Outreach Programs, and Study Abroad. WACAI also is working toward creating more charitable programs in Guinea, West Africa.
WACAI is looking for a student who is mature and possesses good self-management, organization, communication skills as well as a working knowledge of social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. WACAI prefers graduate level students, but would consider qualifying students in their senior year.
