Hawley Peterson Snyder (HPS) is a recognized leader in sustainability. The Sustainable Design Coordinator position is part of HPS’ Sustainability Resource Group (SRG) and responsible to provide support for high performance project design and delivery, sustainability consulting services, and educational programs. The Sustainability Coordinator will have the opportunity to learn HPS’ integrated project delivery and tracking system and eventually lead sustainability efforts for HPS projects and projects by other firms for which the SRG provides consulting services.

The Sustainability Coordinator must have good communication skills and a collaborative approach to project delivery, as well as being a good listener and well organized. The position includes project support for CALGreen and LEED certification compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Education: Architectural or Building Science degree or equivalent experience
• Strong problem solving and analytic skills
• Basic understanding of technical terminology in the building design and construction industry
• Basic understanding of project design and construction delivery work flow
• Communication skills
• Excellent writing and verbal skills
• Attentive listener
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
• Ability to recognize and address inconsistencies in project documents and/or team efforts
• Ability to ask questions if an assignment is unclear and report status of progress when necessary
• Ability to prioritize tasks to make timely progress towards goals and meet deadlines
• Well organized and attention to detail

Additional Qualifications:
• Green Building accreditations and/or experience: LEED GA or LEED with specialty accreditation, LEED, Living Building Challenge, and/or WELL experience
• At least three (3) years of architectural and/or sustainability related experience
• Analytical ability for data analysis related to site assessment, energy efficiency, waste reduction, emission reduction, and other sustainability goals
• Understanding of passive and active design solutions to advance zero net goals
• Familiarity or experience with CALGreen, ASHRAE, ICC, LEED, Living Building Challenge, and/or WELL
• Proficiency in Revit, including drawing setup, plotting, dimensioning, and area take-offs
• Proficiency in an environmental performance/analysis software
