SCI is seeking a student to assist with the Sustainable City Year Program’s (SCYP) Report Editor position. We are seeking undergraduates (8-12 hours per week) or graduate students (up to 8 hours per week) and welcome students with federal work study financial aid. Preference will be given to students graduating in 2019 or later.
Sustainable Cities Initiative (SCI) is a cross-disciplinary organization at the University of Oregon that operates with the energy and mindset of a creative start-up. We operate several programs that span research, pedagogy, professional training, and policy engagement – all related to the sustainable design and function of cities. On campus, we work across many disciplines in several schools and colleges. Off campus, we work at a variety of scales from local cities to federal agencies to universities throughout the world. Student staff have been critical to the development and management of these efforts while simultaneously developing tremendous job skills. As a small team, student staff receive tremendous job skill development and opportunities.
A cornerstone of the Sustainable Cities Initiative is the Sustainable City Year Program (SCYP), a partnership between SCI and a city in Oregon for an entire academic year. The program focuses a number of courses from across the campus on assisting the partner with their sustainability goals and projects.

- Meet and communicate regularly with other student writers to keep things on task and on time
- Edit reports for thematic consistency, as well as for grammar and spelling as necessary

- Ability to keep others to a tight timeline in a friendly, supportive, and helpful way
- Ability to write for a professional audience (mostly city staff)
Hours per week may vary during the term but are typically 4-12 hours/week.
