Learn the fundamentals of fact-checking, reporting, producing and marketing while working in the exciting world of wine and food journalism and PR. A James Beard Award-winning journalist, author, web copywriter and podcaster (for NPR One) is looking for a smart, detail-oriented assistant who can gather information and keep multiple projects on track.
Tasks include maintaining spreadsheets, helping to produce an NPR One podcast, managing social media, reaching out to wineries and other sources to gather information, and working on PowerPoint or Keynote presentations.
This part-time job is fairly flexible, so it's possible to work around school schedules. Interested applicants should send a résumé and e-mail of interest, stating projected availability for scheduling 2-6-hour blocks of work time between 9am and 4pm on weekdays.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong communications skills and a passion for the world of food and beverage. This job will delve deep into Italian wine in particular, so while it's not required, being over age 21 is helpful to understanding the subject matter. Applicants must live in Portland.
