United Way of King County is seeking 14 exceptional AmeriCorps VISTA members to join a team of 30 dynamic change agents working to fight poverty in King County!
United Way is building a community where people have homes, students graduate and families are financially stable. We deploy VISTAs with partner agencies doing excellent work in these arenas. VISTAs commit to serve full-time for one year at organizations across the county starting February 2018.
Your Role and What You Will Learn:
Our VISTAs enable agencies to more effectively serve clients. Instead of working directly with clients to deliver services, VISTAs work at the agency level to improve services, expand programs, and ensure clients receive the highest quality support. VISTA positions offer valuable opportunities to learn more about human service delivery, program operations, leadership, and nonprofit management.
VISTAs spend the majority of their time at their host agency and become crucial members of those teams. Additionally, United Way VISTAs meet as a team at least monthly to participate in high-quality training and professional development, networking opportunities, service projects, and reflection. Our members become part of an extensive nonprofit network with access to excellent resources and learning opportunities. While gaining valuable professional skills and experience, our team works together to change communities and improve lives.
