The University of Oregon Reference Letter Service (formerly known as Placement File Service) is no longer housed at the University of Oregon Career Center. In 2005, the center provided existing file holders the option to transfer records to Interfolio [11], an internationally recognized web-based credential file management service.

All reference letter files previously housed at the University of Oregon that were not transferred by file holders to Interfolio have been purged in accordance with Oregon University System record retention policies. Please note there is no way to retrieve your past file.

Please read on for information regarding the timeline of the reference letter program restructure.

JUNE 2005

All file holders sent notification of the ending of the Reference Letter Service – notification letters were sent to all file holders’ last known address on file explaining the option to transfer files to Interfolio

1999 and older Reference Letter Files purged - files without any activity for the past five years were purged in 2005 as required by OUS policies (this included files with expiration dates through 1999). Notification letters were sent to all file holders affected to the last known address on file prior to the purge.

2000-2005 Reference Letter Files Transferred to University Archives – all reference files with expiration dates of 2000-2005 who did not transfer to Interfolio were transferred to University Archives to be retained for 5 years.

JUNE 2010:

ALL reference letter files housed at University Archives purged in accordance with OUS record retention policies.
