It’s no secret that the global pandemic has upended our economy, and some of the industries that traditionally hire lots of graduating college seniors—travel, hospitality, entertainment—have had to temporarily institute hiring freezes or delay start dates.

But there are many companies that are still hiring. Handshake, our jobs and internships board, regularly updates their listing of 500 companies that are currently hiring

We’ve done the work for you of filtering the list to identify the top companies who are hiring full-time, paid positions for college grads on the West coast.

Many of the positions on this list that are specifically targeting UO students are in sales and recruiting. We’ve highlighted five of these companies below.

Not sure if sales or recruiting is the right career path for you? You don’t have to be an extrovert to be a successful salesperson or recruiter, but you do have to enjoy meeting new people, solving problems, and setting goals and achieving them. Sales positions are often in the field, connecting directly with clients and prospects, so this is a great option if you don’t want to be behind a desk all day.

Many entry-level sales positions include robust training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Look for “sales trainee,” “sales development” or “leadership development” in job postings. Sales positions are great training for all kinds of business roles, and many companies have a promote-from-within culture.

Who’s hiring?

  • Beacon Hill Staffing Group, one of the nation’s largest staffing agencies, is accepting applications for staffing consultant and account executive roles. Staffing consultants source, interview, and place job candidates, while account executives develop relationships with client companies. Apply by September 21.
