1. We know what we’re doing.

Together our Career Advisors have over 60 years of experience advising students on their careers! That’s countless hours of connecting with students and helping them figure out what they want to do and how to get there.

2. It’s a nice break from classes.

Getting tired of your usual work-class-class, class-work-class, class-class-work routine? Break it up with a visit to the Career Center, where you can enjoy a cup of tea and take some time to think about your future.

3. Our building is cool.

Okay, so it’s not new and fancy. Maybe our heaters make loud noises. And yes, we don’t actually have air conditioning, but Hendricks Hall is nearly 100 years old, used to be a women’s dorm, and is incredibly charming.

4. It’s not just about your résumé and cover letter.

We can help you with so much more than just the typically thought of career-related items like your hiring documents. Need a statement of purpose for grad school? Let us help! Want to figure out if your major is aligned with your ideal career? Come see us! No idea what you want to do or how to get there? We got this! (And yes, we’ll help with your résumé, cover letter, and job search too.)

5. We’ll help you figure out who you are.

Ever heard people spouting off their Meyers-Briggs type and want to chime in with yours too? Take the assessment, and come to a workshop to explore your results and learn how they can help in your career development!

6. We have drop-in hours.

We offer daily drop-in hours during the term to help with your résumé, cover letter, and job search. Our peer advisors are ready to meet with you—no need to make an appointment!

7. We offer appointments, too!

Know that your career questions run deeper than putting together your résumé? Great! Schedule an appointment with a career counselor.

8. We’ll help you get connected.

You may have heard of our big events like the career fairs we put on each term, but did you know we bring employers to campus for info sessions, practice interviews, on-campus interviews, and more throughout the term? These employers want to meet Ducks, and connecting with them is great networking!

9. We won’t be just another person asking you about your future.

Sure, we’ll ask what you want to do. And fine, we’ll ask if you’ve thought about how you’ll achieve that. But we’ll also ask how we can help, and give you some ideas of our own! We want to partner with you to achieve your dreams, and help you find success based on what that looks like for you.

10. We care.

Yes, we care about your career development, but we also care about YOU! We strive to be a safe space for all students and truly care about how you’re doing and how we can support you.
