NON PROFIT SUPPORT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Interns in this program support the overreaching work of the mission within their area of expertise. Flexibility is essential in these roles as the realities of the population we serve have a way of rearranging priorities. Interns will get an inside look at the daily operations of a nonprofit organization and be a part of our growth as we strive to meet the growing needs in our community.
In addition to special projects assigned by your on-site supervisor, interns in this program will fill a very practical role at our Hall Desk receiving donations and processing receipts, entering data into our donor and volunteer databases, basic admin and answering phones and transferring calls as well as working with the Dispatcher to coordinate donation pick-ups. A minimum of one shift a week at the Hall Desk is required of all Non-Profit Support interns.
INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS AND OVERVIEW:
Internships at the Eugene Mission span a wide range of programs allowing students to gain valuable experience in everything from marketing and development to social work and counseling.
All internships are unpaid and will require 8-12 hours a week in an assigned field of responsibility. Hours may be scheduled outside of normal business hours and may include weekend shifts. Quarterly internships are generally offered in alignment with college quarters – summer, fall, winter, & spring – though accommodations are made for those on the semester system. Hours should be spread out evenly over your internship.
All Undergraduate and Graduate Level interns without department specific supervision must attend a one-hour, weekly supervision meeting. Time is determined each term based on incoming interns.
Interns are expected to comport themselves professionally and treat their internship at the Mission like a job. This professionalism includes limiting time off or schedule changes, communicating unavoidable absences with as much notice as possible and good communication with management in general with questions or needs.
A Volunteer Program Intern will support the Volunteer Coordinator in recruitment, placement, training and supervision of volunteers at the Eugene Mission. Responsibilities will include event planning, outreach and tabling opportunities, policy writing, research, database entry and experience with basic admin to manage the equivalent of 300+ completely voluntary, part time staff persons.
Preferred experience: Advocacy for those living in poverty, an interest and history in non profit work, and a drive to change the world.
We are looking for a team leader AND builder interested in engaging with the community and growing our pool of dedicated volunteers. A successful intern will be a skilled researcher who is a self starter and handles change and challenges with a smile and encouraging word.
Though quarterly internships are accepted to this program, generally more than one term is need for completion of any special projects or event coordination. Without a long term commitment to the role, internship tasks will be focused on admin and research. Year-long interns have the opportunity to work alongside staff to develop and implement new efforts in development, marketing and volunteer recruitment per our organization’s needs.
INTERNSHIP APPLICATION PROCESS:
The Internship Application can be found on our website – www.EugeneMission.org. Once received, you’ll be invited to attend an Orientation Tour of our facilities and speak with the Internship Program Coordinator. Please bring or email ahead of time . . .

Assuming you are a good fit for that department and team, the Internship Program Coordinator or department manager will discuss schedule.
