Janelle Christensen is the Peace Corps Strategic Campus Recruiter. Before joining the University Career Center, she worked in public affairs at the US Geological Survey and as a climate change communication fellow for the USDA Northwest Climate Hub.
Janelle earned her master’s degree from UC Santa Barbara's Bren School of Environmental Science and Management in 2021, after returning from over three years abroad. She spent those years as a Sustainable Agriculture Volunteer in Peace Corps Senegal and teaching English in Shenzhen, China. Her varied career also features working with animals as a veterinary assistant, restoring and studying salmon habitat and in AmeriCorps, and cuddling baby Sea Otters as an interns at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Outside of work at the Career Center, Janelle owns a small business, Once Again Gardens, that aims to help people grow their own food. This is fueled by her passion to live more sustainably, build resilient communities, and reduce food waste. In her spare time, she has too many hobbies, but enjoys getting outdoors, cooking, knitting, and crafting. She lives in Eugene with her partner, Eugene, and their dog, Canyon.
