Dani Amtmann is the assistant director for career readiness on the career readiness coaching team at the University Career Center. She heads up our team of career coaches and is a career coach herself. Coaches are the people at the Career Center who work directly with students to help them explore careers, find jobs and experiences and apply for them. Whether it’s trying to figure out what you want to do next, writing resumes, locating internships, preparing for interviews, or exploring graduate school, career coaches meet the needs of students wherever they are at.
Dani grew up in Southern California and went to five different colleges and universities before graduating from University of California, Santa Cruz with her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She spent the next 10 years having a lot of fun exploring a LOT of different jobs and being successful in several different careers before getting her master’s degree in counseling from Eastern Michigan University so that she could work with college students.
Outside of work Dani enjoys hanging out with all the important ones in her life including her kid, family, friends, partner, and pets. She loves kayaking, biking, trail running, reading, and discovering new things in life to enjoy. She believes that life is all about the journey (so you might as well have fun while you’re at it!), and not some destination we’re supposed to arrive at one day.
