Ry Smith is a career readiness coach for the University Career Center. He graduated from Portland State University with a BS in environmental science and philosophy and earned a master’s in ecology education. Ry really enjoys working with students who are having a challenging time finding a career path that connects their education to meaningful work experiences.
Prior to working at the University of Oregon, Ry worked as a paramedic, Army medic, habitat restoration coordinator, community garden coordinator, wilderness trip leader, personal trainer, job development coordinator, and a few other jobs. Ry utilizes his extensive job background and unique career path to guide students through their own career exploration process and developing a career action plan.
In his spare time Ry loves to explore the outdoors, particularly on a mountain bike. Ry is also learning the art of blacksmithing and enjoys forging things into useful tools.
