Tina Haynes is the employer engagement coordinator with the University Career Center. In this role she responds to both on-campus and off-campus employer inquiries about hiring University of Oregon students. She also facilitates campus visits for employers who are highly interested in sharing information about their organization and specific opportunities with interested Ducks. These opportunities include on-campus interviews, practice interviews, information sessions, tabling activities, and more.
Transferring to the UO as a nontraditional and first-generation student, Tina’s first job was a receptionist in the ASUO Executive Office in the EMU, which allowed her to work with passionate students in student government, leadership, student unions, and clubs. During this time Tina volunteered with local organization and snagged a “side hustle” as a “mystery shopper.” Needing to work full time, later Tina landed a full-time role as a career librarian with the Career Center. Self-described as a “career information queen,” Tina says this role was perfectly suited to her helping students explore careers and majors and top companies/industries of interest, international work via books and an exciting new tool at the time—the Internet.
An Oregon coastal kid at heart and calling Eugene home, Tina enjoys spending time with family and friends, puttering in the garden, and exploring Oregon destinations. Tina calls herself a “double Duck”—UO alum with a bachelor of science degree in sociology and also a member of the Career Center staff.
